Hi All,
A number of years ago, sorry don't remember just how many, I was in the garden
and I watched a Black-capped Chickadee feeding what appeared to be a
Chestnut-backed Chickadee fledgling. I may have posted the behavior to OBOL, I
don't remember. I do remember talking about it and someone told me it was
highly unlikely that I'd observed the behavior and I sort of forgot about it
until now.
The Luckiamute Chickadee story reminded me of that odd incident. It would
certainly explain why a Black-capped Chickadee would be feeding what appeared
to be a Chestnut-backed Chickadee fledgling.
I will have to go back through my Chickadee pictures and see if I can find
anything odd. What would I look for? Would lecusim be more likely to show up in
hybrid birds? I had three or four leucistic Black-capped Chickadees around for
a year or so.
Thanks
