Looks good for a female, which is smaller. Fat body, small head, patterned back
and relatively short legs are all ruffular.

Please excuse the late report of what I believe is a RUFF. It sighted in the
late afternoon on Thursday November 19 in a sheet water puddle east of Potter
road (44.430179, -123.160154).
I found the bird while scoping a large shorebird flock in a recently plowed
field. I did not really know what to make of it so took some distant
digiscope photos of poor quality. I was then off to “the next bird” and I
forgot all about it. Today I remembered the photos and after some
consideration RUFF seems a good fit. I discussed with Jeff Harding the area
eBird reviewer and he concurs.
The checklist with location, my notes about the bird, and photos is at

All the best
