Bold cap is not that unusual, but the supercilium is more conspicuous than
expected. It is a Ruff nevertheless.

Yes, the cap was very bold. It reminded me of the Sharp-tailed Sand cap. But
most everything else about the bird was distinctively Ruff. Very large compared
to the western and a couple Bairds nearby and as mentioned the unique tertial
flare.
By the way, the South Beach Pacific Golden-plovers were also continuing
yesterday. I only found 2 of 3 though. Southward of the plovers where at least
29 Snowy Plover. I took photos of some with bands.

Yeah, those tertials are pretty distinctive, always learning random plumage
variations. I haven't found a resource that shows the strong white eyeline I
believe I am seeing in Aaron's photos.

Hi,
Chuck Philo called at 11:50 AM this morning and the Ruff is back where
it was on Sept. 11 on mudflats near the Shelter along the Hatfield
Marine Science Center Nature Trail. Chuck said the tide is going out,
so it may move.
