Hi All,
I went over to Lincoln County today and birded with Chuck Philo. I had
some target species to look for, a few I've not seen in the county as yet.
We dipped on all of them, until en route back to Chuck's we stopped again
at McNary Lane Pond, which is along Hwy 20 between Toledo and L City, where
we found a male Cinnamon Teal. I think there was a female as well, but I
did not get on her quickly enough to figure it out. This species is just
not easy to find on the north coast, at least in Lincoln or Tillamook Cos.
Chuck has been birding in the county for 30 years and had only seen 3-4 in
all that time. And Jimmy Billstine dipped in Tillamook during his big year
last year, and he really beat the bushes quite hard. So a nice tic for me
for Lincoln today.
