Hello OBOL,
On my way to work this evening I observed a large flycatcher briefly
sitting on a fenceline and flycatching. My observation was brief as it hid
in the brush quickly upon me respotting it (Guess I was too close for
comfort).
With the naked eye I could see that it was roughly Kestrel sized with a
long tail, plain and buffy overall with some flash of color I just couldn't
see well enough to say what it is.
My suspicion that a Western Kingbird but I can't positively say so. It is
on highway 226, on the fenceline immediately south of the road, 0.1-0.2
miles west of the intersection with Brewster Road. A ten minute drive from
Albany. If anyone is in the area it might be worth follow-up effort, I had
to move on. I will try to relocate it tomorrow as well.
