This morning I found 26 COMMON TERNS at the south jetty, Florence.
Several small groups were flying south with some flying upriver a bit.
Twelve RED-NECKED PHALAROPE were between the jetties and the 2 MARBLED
GODWITS reported by Daniel continued near the crab dock. A MERLIN and
COOPERS HAWK were hunting over the dunes. Brown Pelicans were in good
numbers and two bright RED-NECKED GREBES fed just beyond the surf.
At Siltcoos Estuary I found a surprising BLACK-NECKED STILT along with one
RED KNOT and the expected Western Sandpiper & Sanderling and Snowy &
Semipalmated Plover. A Peregrine was busy harassing a Turkey Vulture and 2
Red-necked Phalarope were on the lake south of the Wax Myrtle Trail.
