Birders:
The 10th Annual Ladd Marsh Bird Festival, May 15 - 17, is fast approaching.
The schedule and list of field trips are finalized and posted on the Friends of
Ladd Marsh web site:
www.friendsofladdmarsh.org<http://www.friendsofladdmarsh.org>. Harry Fuller is
the featured speaker for the Friday night kick-off with a talk about Great Gray
Owls in the Pacific Northwest. He will also be leading a field trip Saturday
to the Spring Creek area made famous by its density of these majestic birds.
Nine other field trips Saturday and Sunday cover areas and topics from
Rhinehart Canyon and Grande Ronde Valley hotspots to the Dawn Chorus to the
history of the area and plants of Ladd Marsh. There should be something for
everyone. Register early for field trips to reserve your spot. Also, somewhat
unique to this Bird Festival, volunteers will staff 6 stations on Ladd Marsh
from 6 am to noon Saturday to assist folks with finding and identifying birds
near those stations. Local artists will also be at those stations from 9 to
noon working their craft plein air and there will be botanists on site to
discuss plants and their importance as habitat for birds in keeping with the
2015 theme of International Migratory Bird Day - "Restore Habitat, Restore
Birds."

Kids' activities from 9 am to 3 pm include building a bird house, coloring a
canvas tote, becoming a Junior Birder and more!

Check out the Friends web site and the information under the Bird Festival tab.
