I think our "masters" are speaking on behalf of the vast majority of us here.
But let me speak for myself--I don't give a fuck about your opinion of what's
happening at Malheur, so let it rest and/or leave OBOL if you don't like the
rules.
The moderation policy is relatively recent. Back when I nearly ended up
hosting the list on my own server for free, there was no moderator, and I
would’ve never offered to host the list if there had been.
And the moderation policy, as stated, despite claims to the contrary, only
mention poilitical discussion, not discussion of crimes.
I’m not interested in discussing the politics behind what’s happening there,
not here, anyway.
But consequences and news about the crimes being committed there shouldn’t be
banned here. It makes no sense. This is the crown jewel of Oregon Birding.
If they torch the blind dedicated to David B Marshall we can’t talk about it
because … because … why, exactly?
If it were spring and birders were being kept from visiting HQ because of these
criminals, it would be discussed here, without doubt. And if they stick it
out, it will be discussed, without doubt.
