I believe this Eurasian Wigeon with green on the face is just that-
not a hybrid at all. I saw one at Amberglen Park in Beaverton a few
winters ago. I can't remember who told me that it's a regular variatiion.
I once saw a Gadwall at Beal wetland in Forest Grove with a similar
irridescent patch around the eye. It was more purple than green.

Hi all,
I visited Grand Prairie Park in Albany today. There were about 100 (mostly)
American Wigeons there and it was a great opportunity to see all the
variations in their coloring. There was one pure Eurasian Wigeon and two
hybrids that were quite striking. One had an all red face with a very vivid
green eye "patch" that I have never seen before. I guess its an
American/Eurasian hybrid. Anyone see one like this before?
