An Anna’s Hummingbird methodically visited one apple after another in a King
tree in my garden on Nov. 23. These are remaining apples rotting on the tree a
month after harvest, many of them pecked open by Flickers, Robins, etc. Rain
had collected in some of the apple husks. Was the hummer getting juice or
