Hi All,
I have been asked many times how can we help Malheur NWR with the current
crisis and I think I have a really cool idea. I have been talking to an
Oregonian reporter who has been trying to drag all the secrets of Malheur
NWR out of me and so far I haven't cracked, but, I had this idea and she
liked it so here it goes. Actually, I am going to cut and past her email
that I recieved:

Thank you again for your time today, especially as you are dealing with so much.
I am hoping to collect stories from people who have spent years
volunteering at the
Malheur National Wildlife Refuge or birders who have visited it
regularly over the
years. I would love to hear how they feel about the refuge and their
thoughts on how
it is a public space supported by tax dollars and donations for the enjoyment of
all.
Lastly, I’d like to hear about their concerns for the refuge if this occupation
lasts any significant amount of time. Are they scared for the refuge? Concerned?
Angry?

I told her how important Malheur was to the birding community and
assured her that
many would be happy to let her know how important it is. I think it
would be awesome
to fill her email box and truly send a message.
To know what exactly we will need help with once the refuge is back is
hard to say.
