After a few days looking for Cassia Crossbill (yes) , Himalayan Snowcock
(no), and hiking around City of Rocks (spectacular- near Cassia Crossbill
area) made it back to Harney yesterday.
On 9/14 Fields was hopping- town more so than Oasis. Oasis still has water.
Highlights:

BG GNATCATCHER
At least 4 Lewis’s Woodies in town plus a GB HERON that circled town
several times before moving on.
Windy all night down there so drove up to Hdqs this AM. Not as busy as
Fields yesterday. Best bird RED-EYED VIREO. Also found one Diane Pettey
and Sally Hill.
Last weekend had my first county Vaux’s Swift at Hdqs- not very common
there I would guess?
For anyone interested in a hike near Fields I was surprised how cool 1000
Springs Gorge is in Sheldon NWR. I hiked from mouth about an hour on what
trail there is until it cliffs out. Bottom of gorge is a tule swamp
complete with PB Grebe, Mallards, V Rail, chukar-city; hardly any trees
just low willow and rose. Many warblers including Townsend’s- was bizarre!
