I dipped on the Northern Shrike along Anderson Road in Canby today - but a
nice birder tipped me off to a Wilson's Snipe working the edges of a small
pond just off the road. Whoever you are - I apologize for not thanking you
at the time. You might like to know that a few minutes after you left,
three more Snipe flew in together and worked the far edge of the pond for
about 15 minutes before flying away.
On my way home I stopped at Canby Pond where I found a Green Heron. The
park was full of a good assortment of birds including one flock of 27
Varied Thrush. There was also a male and female Mandrin Duck working the
edges of the main pond.
