My wife and I took the 114 mile drive to see the Summer Tanager this morning
in Kimberly. It was in the same trees as previously reported (contact me if
you want details). Though it spent much of its time loafing in the shade, I
got a couple of photos. One of the houses had a hummingbird feeder where I
photographed a Black-chinned and a Rufous hummer. When we first drove up, I
thought I had an Anna's too but it wouldn't show when I got close enough to
be sure. I also found 3 Lark Sparrows at the Cant Ranch and Bewick's Wren
on the John Day River south of Kimberly. Bewick's Wren is considered quite
rare in Grant County.
