That's quite a find! And indeed, there's not much connective habitat along the
Gorge, for a forest bird that we think of as sedentary.

Quite a few trucks daily from Seattle etc. too.
What are the odds of a HUVI catching a ride in one? It seems somewhat less
likely than a Wrentit catching a ride in a load of Christmas trees, but not
impossible.
Bewick's Wren are easier to understand. They turn up in the tiniest of brush
patches around seeps, in the northern Great Basin.
There *is* one report of a Wrentit along the lower Deschutes River (heard only,
by Fred Ramsey during a boat trip a few years ago). Like Fred said, good luck
getting back to check that one!
