The same is true of even adjacent lakes in Oregon. There are thousands of
diving ducks on Siltcoos (though no one bothers to check them) and about four
on next-door Woahink.

I saw the pochard yesterday. It was near the northern end of Freshwater
Lagoon, with a flock of Canvasbacks. I birded Garrison Lake today in Port
Orford. What a contrast - Freshwater Lagoon had hundreds of diving ducks;
Garrison Lake had about ten.

FYI
There is a Common Pochard still in Humboldt, the fourth US record. Now a
Eurasian Kestrel.

Casy Ryan and Tony Kurz just called to report a female Eurasian Kestrel at
Fields Landing at Depot St in field. This is just south of Eureka.
