Hi all,
Forwarding one of multiple rare-bird alerts that came out via eBird this
afternoon, of a Pacific Golden Plover that was apparently found on a
private road north of Finley NWR by a group that had access for a raptor
survey.
I assume that the map location shown is approximate so as not to point
anyone directly to a a private location, and the bird was somewhere off
one of the private "spur" roads in this area.
However Golden-Plovers wintering in the Willamette Valley often move
around as much as half a mile or more, usually in the company of
Killdeer flocks. So it might be useful to have the general location in
mind, in hopes that the bird may move to a more publicly accessible
location.
Too bad the abandoned railroad grade in this area -- though county-owned
-- isn't accessible as a pedestrian trail.
