I felt compelled to write to thank you for you very perceptive and rhythmic
ode to the sapsucker.
I've been bedeviled by such a beast, living here in Milpitas, CA. Our
local South Bay Birds wesite (http://digest.sialia.com/?rm=one_list;id=68)
has chronicled this devil's apparition in Ed Levin Park above my house for
at least 18 months. Discussions and photos have degenerated to examining
every feather on the charlatan.
I'm content that my 2-year old grandson knows that it is definitely "a
bird", while I'm content with knowing it's a Sphyrapicus.
