Common ground dove last seen just before 11:00am. just north of the
church near Driftwood Lane. It was flushed by a woman who followed it.
3 Mountain chickadees in the shore pine on the NW corner of
Driftwood Lane and West 6th. Palm warbler seen about 2 houses N. and
e. side of Driftwood Lane. I checked again at 11:45, several birders
there had not seen the dove in the last hour. Betty Bahn

Hi,

At 10:11 AM, Alan Contreras reports the ground-dove is still there and
there are 15 observers.

Sally Lockyear emails at 10:08 AM "Had some great looks at the bird
across the street from Paula's place on gravel and also on the gravel
road just south of the church. Several birders are there and there
should be excellent photos.

Hi,

At 5:45 PM tonight (Oct. 7), Paula Lester telephoned to report that
she had been seeing an unusual bird on Oct. 15-17 that she today
identified as a Common Ground-Dove based on Sibley's Western Field
Guide. It was very small (about sparrow-size) and has been with a
flock of White-crowned Sparrows and fed on the ground. When it flew,
the wings were very reddish.

Today, she saw it four times near her place at 771 Driftwood Lane in
Yachats; she welcomes people to the area but notes that it is
sometimes nearby and not always on the 771 Driftwood Lane property.
She does not have a camera to photograph it.

Directions: from HWY 101 in Yachats, turn west on West 7th Street and
at the first crossroads turn right on Driftwood Lane (map at
http://bit.ly/1W0kvMr).

For what it is worth, there are 2 accepted records for Oregon
(http://www.orbirds.org/obrcrecordsmay2015.pdf):
Common Ground-Dove Columbina passerina
329-06-02 Cape Blanco, Curry Co., 1 bird on 3 August 2006 (photos by

329-12-03 Cape Blanco, Curry Co., 1 bird 17-18 September 2012 (photos OS,LoM);
