Hello OBOL folks,
We've been seeing two Common Redpolls and a Nashville Warbler at my
feeders for four days now. I've opened my backyard for local birders to
drop by and wanted to extend the invitation to OBOL. Here are the
details:
Address is 1675 NW Arthur Circle, Corvallis - Creamy yellow house at
northeast "corner" of the circle. Don't knock on the front door or ring
bell as we have a late sleeper in the house, just walk around either
side of the house and let yourself through the (can be tricky) gates.
The gate to the left leads to an area with more standing room. The gate
to the right leads to a place that has less room, but may have better
light and has better view of the catkins where the Redpolls land on the
way to the seed feeder that is hanging from the porch. Nashville
warbler prefers the suet feeder under the porch, though I hung a second
one in the yard on Monday.
Once in the yard, whispers only in the a.m., please.
Most consistent time to see them is between 7:45 and 8:30 am, but on
Sunday, Tuesday and today, they visited other times sporadically as
well.
Also, there is a play structure that can be climbed into from below,
which has a deck that can be stood on that looks over the yard. Use at
your own risk - I've discovered that the skylight that kept the rain out
blew off in a recent windstorm so water has gotten in and it's quite
slick. Also, I haven't had more than two adults up there weight wise,
so best to limit to two. If you decide to go into it, please be VERY
careful.
Semi-finally, we have a greyhound that we need to let out in the back a
couple times a day to run around for a few minutes. He is very friendly
and loves people, but we need the gates to be shut, so mind that as you
enter and leave.
Finally, if you decide to make the trip to Corvallis, send me an email
first to make sure we still are seeing it and still have the open gate

I'll let folks know when we haven't seen the birds in a few days or need
to withdraw the open gate policy for some reason.
