This morning I found 5 AMERICAN AVOCETS at the scrape pond south of the
Royal Parking lot at Fern Ridge west of Eugene. The pond only has water in
the south end where a good number of birds were feeding including 41 Great
Egrets, 9 Great Blue Herons, 21 Greater Yellowlegs, 4 Long-billed Dowitcher,
assorted peep and Killdeer along with the avocets. Pond 3 is about 1/3 full
with good shorebird habitat. Nothing unusual here, but good numbers of the
expected shorebirds. Red-necked Phalaropes continue on Pond 5.
