I had my first of the year OSPREY at Eckman Lake in Lincoln County
yesterday evening at 6:00 pm on my way back to Corvallis from a day at the
coast. While I was there, I observed the bird fly back and forth over the
lake twice carrying sticks toward the south end of the lake, presumably to
a nest site.
I also observed 5 GADWALL, 6 MALLARD, 23 BUFFLEHEAD, 7 HOODED MERGANSER, 11
COMMON MERGANSER, 2 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 2 PIED-BILLED GREBE, and
approximately 40 RING-NECKED DUCK among other species.
