The Eugene Wednesday birding group went to the Mill Race Path in
Springfield. Fox, Lincoln’s, and Golden-crowned Sparrows reminded us that
summer is about to be over. Warbling Vireos, Swainson’s Thrush,
Orange-crowned Warbler, Western Wood-Pewee, Violet-green Swallows were
seen, perhaps for the last time until next spring. It was a very birdie
morning. Everyone in the group contributed a good sighting. Two Warbling
Vireos were sighted behind Agnes Stewart Middle School. Three more were
spotted later in a single tree; a few single vireos were seen also. A
Wilson’s warbler and a Townsend’s were seen, but did not show themselves
well to the entire group. The Swainson’s Thrush did not stay in the open
long and was seen by a portion of the group. Our complete list follows.
