Twenty birders met at Royal Avenue and had a productive morning walk on the
dikes of the Fisher Unit. Highlights were:
Common Goldeneye - 8 (large number for the area)
American White Pelican - 18
Black-necked Stilt - 1 (1st of the season)
Bald Eagle - 9
Rough-legged Hawk -2
Virginia Rail - 3 (heard only)
Short-eared Owl - (distant, perched in a tree)
Peregrine Falcon - 2 (adult and juvenile)
Merlin - 1
Northern Shrike - 1
