Sadly, this photo(s) is ineligible for the OBA photo contest because it is
a superposition of
two photos taken a few minutes apart. (Actually, I support the 'no
manipulation' rule).
Contrary to popular belief, you can indeed photograph a 'partial' eclipse
without an 'eclipse darkening filter'.
The eclipse was photographed post totality using manual exposure at f 16,
1/5000 second, ISO 100 and no filter.
and shows a ghost image due to refractions within the 300 mm lens.
The nighthawk photoed using normal automatic exposure. Two night hawks
were 'out' only at dusk
for the previous two days at Round Lake, but indeed did come out for the
eclipse.
Other ecliptic bird behaviors were significant only in their insignificance.
