Jim and I drove our usual weekend route around the grass fields east of Albany,
south of Hwy 20 and north of Brownsville yesterday. We counted 49 Bald Eagles.
Only 16 were sub adults. In the field northeast of the intersection of
Langmack and Gore were 17 Bald Eagles, the main attraction being a well picked
over sheep carcass. The sun was shining for a brief few minutes when we
spotted this group, and it was quite stunning to see so many adults together,
with their bright white heads and tails.
Last weekend we saw so many Kestrels that we thought we would do a count
yesterday, but only came up with 16.
We saw 3 Rough Legged Hawks a couple of miles north of Brownsville.
