Today, Dec 25, 8 hours, 98.5 miles, in the a.m. decent visibility, poor
in pm ending up nearly impossible with snowing conditions. So likely
missed some birds but still, 101 is one more than I found in November.
49 Red-tails
31 American Kestrel
7 Northern Harriers
4 Adult Bald Eagles
1 Sub adult Bald
1 unidentified eagle, can't pull over on !-84
3 Rough-legs
1 Buteo sp, likely Red-tailed but can't pull over on 1-84
2 Prairie Falcons
1 Cooper's Hawk
1 Great Horned Owl
Ag fields felt like Wallowa country with close cropped veg and Horned
Larks skirting around, but no Gyr, longspurs, snow buntings, NO
buntings, etc. Huge mixed flocks of sparrows and finches around some
weedy areas, esp areas with wild thistle and sunflower. About 20
Western Meadowlarks were extra bright spots in the day. Good birding,
