I spent the last two nights at Diamond Lake, birding, and just generally
enjoying myself. Russ Namitz from Medford joined me last night for some rainy
owling and woodpeckering today. Some of the highlights include:

2 Great Horned Owls, 1 of which personally escorted me out of her territory at
the Diamond Lake South Marsh

1 Barred Owl

Mountain Bluebirds north of Lemolo Lake on NF 700

Barrow's Goldeneye at the Diamond Lake Sewage ponds along with 6 tree swallows

Lotsa:

Red-Breasted Sapsuckers

Black-Backed Woodpeckers

Hairy Woodpeckers

Northern Flickers

Pileated Woodpeckers

And 1 Male AMERICAN THREE-TOED WOODPECKER near the south entrance to Crater Lake

We did not find any Boreal Owls, driving sleet and rain turned aside our
snowshoeing expedition.

Guten Birden
