This has been a very enlightening discussion, thanks all. And thanks to
Hinkles for finding the bird and getting so many good photos. I’ve learned a
lot.
One thing I’d throw in the mix is that SUMMER TANAGER heads seem to me to have
a sort of bushy, “wild-eyed” sort of look that the original and, especially,
the further photos and Adrian’s excellent description rule out.
