Great Horned Owls may have young in the nest by now in Benton County. In which
case they are hunting extra long hours. I have never encountered a road-kill
GHOW in Benton County,OR come to think of it. The population density there must
be among the world's highest. I once heard 5 individuals calling at once along
Bellfountain Road. Lars

Today I saw two dead Great-horned Owls in the Llewellyn Rd. area, one near
Belfountain Rd. and the other on 99W, right by the intersection. I have never
encountered dead owls in this area before, and I find it interesting that
they died, presumably by car crash, in the same time window. Hope this is
just a coincidence, but this hasn't been a good winter for rodents.
