Tim Shelmerdine and I birded a bit of spicy Curry County today.
Gold Beach still harbors at least 250 ELEGANT TERNS. A very nice surprise at
the south jetty was a SHORT-EARED OWL.
The walk out to the foredune at Floras Lake yielded a single LAPLAND LONGSPUR.
A 25 minute seawatch from the foredune gave us some great looks at the 225+
BLACK-VENTED SHEARWATERS. There were a few Sooty and Pink-footed Shearwaters
mixed in.
Good birding,
Russ Namitz
