[obol] Cruise Ship Pterodroma Extravaganza off Curry Friday 5/3/2013

Paul Lehman called this afternoon. He and at least 20 other birders were on a
cruise ship the last few days. He called from the boat as they were headed to
Vancouver, BC this afternoon.
The boat passed through Curry County on Friday from mid afternoon to dark. They
were approx. 40-45 miles offshore with 45-knot North winds.
The highlights in CURRY were:
1 HAWAIIAN PETREL right alongside the boat so they were looking down on it.
Ryan Merrill apparently got good photos of it.
2 DARK-RUMPED PETRELS
1 COOKALARIA (seen by 5)
1 MOTTLED PETREL (only seen by Paul Lehman and Ryan Merrill)
20 MURPHY'S PETREL
Between Northern Mendocino County and the Oregon border prior to that it was
also fabulous:
1 HAWAIIAN PETREL
2 DARK-RUMPED PETRELS
4 COOK'S PETRELS
18 MURPHY'S PETREL
27 PARAKEET AUKLETS
There was nothing to report from today while they were in Washington waters.
