After striking out this morning, I was easily able to locate the
Black-throated Sparrow Mark Gonzalez found in Powell Butte (Crook County)
earlier in the day. Here are some photos:

Off Shumway Road, take Hahlen Rd. east to the point the pavement ends. Turn
onto Mountain View Drive and park. The bird has been singing from the trees
near the driveway that leads up to the wood paneled house. You should be
able to hear it from the intersection of Hahlen and Mt View.
I believe this is the second county record for this species (both by Mark
Gonzalez) but this is the first confirmed record. Two Crook County Life
Birds for me in 3 days.
FYI, the mockingbird that has been in the same vicinity was not found this
evening.
