Sunny 72 F at Sauvie Island today with 250+ Sandhill Cranes, 70+ Tundra Swans,
8,000+ Snow Geese, many Canada & Cackler, Brown Creeper, a Ring-necked
Pheasant rooster in the middle of the road , DC Cormorants, Bald Eagles, RT
Hawks, Northern Harriers, Great Egrets & most duck species, American Coot,
winter sparrows, and 5 VG SWALLOWS at two spots…Spring!
Sauvie Island is my “fix” for the Sandhill Cranes when we don’t make it to
Burns for their festival. Cranes often closer at Burns but not usually in the
numbers we see at Sauvie Island in late winter...
