A few birds I have seen recently:
8 May Eden Valley area SE Coos County, Siskiyou NF:
many DUSKY FLYCATCHERS (not in the week before) and several Western
wood-peewees otherwise all species seen the week before. No Calliope
Hummers since 2013 for me up there (I had them for several years straight
in late April/early May).
also saw my first HOUSE WREN of the year along the Powers Hwy.
on 9 May:
beach on north spit of Coos Bay with large shorebird flock:
2- RED KNOTS
1- RUDDY TURNSTONE
also 6 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES at the old Weyco pond site plus 5 Cinnamon
Teal and lotsa mosquitoes.
on 10 May, north spit of Coos Bay:
1- BLUE-WINGED TEAL (male)
1- singing OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER (usual spot where they breed).
at my house during the early AM in Coos Bay- one singing YELLOW WARBLER, a
species I have only had once before at the house I think.
Merry migration!
