Alan Brockway use to live over in Lakeside at an RV park there and said he
had a male scout on 20 March in 2017 which is real early. However, the
male scout could have arrived that day this year since by the time I
checked on the 25th an adult female was already there and they arrive
later than the males most years. Traditionally, on the PUMA scout website,
they show 1 April as the arrival date for southern OR. In the last decade
this number has definitely crept earlier and earlier. So it may be that 20
March is closer to the real earliest arrival. As I mentioned, the Tenmile
Lake site normally gets birds way before other sites- 10 days to two weeks
later on N Spit Coos Bay I think.
