I only started looking for them at 0725 and almost instantly saw them.
From where I was at, maybe 1/2 mile inland, most birds were spread out
between where I was at and the beach. A few did come directly overhead but
most were fairly close to the beach (still easily visible). Down here on
the south coast we have dunelands and flatness along the coast; once you
get north of Florence and hit the rugged headlands who knows what a big
flock would do?
