It dumped all day in Coos Bay with temps up to the mid-50s. I went for a
late dog-walk at Johnson Mill pond about 3:30. I was shocked at how birdy
it was, all birds I saw on the CBC last week but didn't expect to see much
out with the heavy rain:
18 TURKEY VULTURES
1 loud chipping ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER
4 BARN SWALLOWS (there were 12 here last weekend, I wonder if these are the
survivors?)
2 SWAMP SPARROWS both easily heard and seen
Lotsa wigeons on the pond (not so last weekend) including one EURASIAN
Also quite a few Varied Thrush; there numbers seem back to normal this past
cold and snowy week.
The Wednesday 4 inches of snow is now history...
Enjoy,
