There is an all green-backed male Selasphorus Hummer coming to our feeders
today that looks good for Allen's, tough to say for sure here in the hybrid
zone (SW Coos/NW Curry).
On the 22nd the Picture Valley Road (Coquille Valley near Norway) SAY'S
PHOEBE was still hanging in there at the barn visible from Hwy 42. Sounds
like some birds are already migrating from the reports on OBOL.
I saw a migrant (it was heading north and quickly disappeared) TREE SWALLOW
on the 22nd on the N. Spit of Coos Bay; they had arrived inland a couple
weeks earlier. I still haven't found a VG Swallow yet.
At Floras Lake, Curry early AM on the 23rd the LAPLAND LONGSPUR was still
present although it was maybe a half mile north of the lake, iI flew by me
calling headed toward the river to the north. Also saw three TREE SWALLOWS
which appeared to be migrating north- I only saw them for a few seconds
before they disappeared.
Another 60F day on the coast- been pretty warm here the past month,
Merry migration!
