This morning I found 16 COMMON TERNS flying over Fern Ridge Reservoir. I
watched the birds from Orchard Point Park and Perkins Peninsula Park. There
were two Caspian Terns as well.
I walked to the end of Royal Ave finding a few shorebirds - Greater
Yellowlegs, Long-billed Dowitcher, Least Sandpiper & Wilson's Snipe. The
habitat is improving and may be pretty good next week. There were good
numbers of shorebirds north of the headquarters including both yellowlegs,
both dowitchers, Western & Least Sandpiper & Semipalmated Plover. Be wary
of goose and pheasant hunters.
