Will Wright and I searched for the Common Crane refound by the Hinkle twins
yesterday in Davis Creek, CA. While we found numerous Sandhill Cranes, the
extensive heat waves, already thick at 9:30am prevented us from carefully
examining all of them. Consequently we cannot say for sure whether the bird
was still present. Will plans to be there at first light tomorrow and
hopefully can shed more light on that question. For those planning on
chasing this bird, I would strongly suggest going there the night before and
being on sight early in the morning. Because of the distance to the birds
at the new location, heat waves make quality looks impossible after 8:30am.
