We ran the Columbia Estuary Christmas count today.  Early in the day
it was cold and foggy, but eventually cleared to partly cloudy.  The
early morning weather kept things slower than expected, but we ended
the day with a tentative (and respectable) 128 species (slightly above
average)

Most of the recently reported rarity were reported, though the
RUSTIC BUNTING on the Washington side comes from a single eBird list
with a rumor that most folks who looked for it today did not find it.
If I can find it tomorrow, I am inclined to accept the sight record,
though I'd be curious to hear from those who dipped out today.

The mockingbird, GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, CLAY-COLORED SPARROW and HARRIS'S
SPARROW were seen by multiple observers.  The BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLER was a count-week bird (with photos) and we are tracking down a
rumored count-week TROPICAL KINGBIRD.

The most annoying miss?  Yesterday I found a flock of 250 LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS.  No one found any dowitchers today...
