Hi all,
There were many fulmar carcasses washed up on Baker Beach near Florence
(Lane Co.) on Thursday, along with a few phalarope remnants. I was
surprised to also find a relatively fresh SEA TURTLE on the beach there -
maybe a victim of the same recent storms?

Good birding,

Mortality count from most recent storm series:
Red Phalarope 1
Common Murre 1
Rhinoceros Auklet 5
Cassin's Auklet 14
Northern Fulmar 56 (majority dark to intermediate phase)
Leach's Storm Petrel 1
Barred Owl 1 (not a recent mortality)
small pinniped (probably fur seal)
This is not a particularly severe wreak relative some past events,
but higher than non-storm background.
