Hello, everyone.
After running some errands in Canby, I headed over to S. Anderson Rd, off
S. Barlow Rd. just south of town. In the large American Wigeon flock, I
managed to spot one male EURASIAN WIGEON, a bird that I have not seen all
that often in Clackamas County. More interesting were three swans that
were close to the road: one adult and two immatures. I only had small
binoculars with me, but the adult had a large bill with no concavity at
all. Neither was there any hint of yellow at the base. So I am thinking I
had three TRUMPETER SWANS. This is very rare in the county. I am working
the next two days and will probably not be able to confirm this sighting
with my scope, so if anyone else runs on out, please let me know what you
find. Note: there were three more adult swans way in the back of the field
that I could not see well, so hopefully all three swans will be there.
