Well, as long as we are doing *mea culpas *I am retracting my Carver,
Clackamas County record of Red-shouldered hawk.
I have stewed over this too many years. ID was based upon translucent
wing-tip panels of the subject bird chasing an adult
Red tail at high elevation. Although their shapes seemed different there
is a strong possibility that the chaser was an
immature Red-tail, likely a progeny of the adult, in July. Young Red-tails
have similar panels.
Thus I have no certaub records in 45 years of Red-shouldered in here in 45
years here.
Tim Jansen, please take note.

For those who have Birds of Lane County, note that I have withdrawn the
report of Arctic Loon on p. 197. The OBRC did not accept it and I don’t
feel confident in it.
Likewise the record published in American Birds in 1973 of a Gray-crowned
Rosy Finch with siskins at my home in west Eugene should be treated as
erroneous. This isn’t specifically mentioned in the book.
I’m cleaning up my county data as I put it into eBird.
