Seawatch Cape Meares, Tillamook CBC
7:30-11:00 mostly overcast wind S 5

Approx 8:05 clumpy southbound flight
started consisting mostly of loons, Brandt's,
WW Scoters, Murres, and lesser numbers of Rhinos. Flight steady to 9:20, continued but diminishing movement after. Still some minor movement underway at 11:00. First
overlap of which I am aware of significant
Pac Loon flight and CBC season at this latitude.
Gull density comparatively low.

         with occasional pure group N)

in groups sitting or leapfrogging N)

sitting with a few groups N)

270 Rhinoceros Auklet (S)

* small black/white shearwater south 1/2 mile
in diffuse sunlight, quick snappy wingbeats,
unpatterned uniform blackish uppertail, back,
upperwings, crown, & face to just below eye, with
black of upperparts extending onto sides of
breast. Clean white appearance to throat, central
breast, central underwings, belly & vent. Great
look at UT coverts - appeared clean white outlined
very thinly by black of tail. White on fore-flanks
appeared to extend up to slightly above wing
level, with a small but not substantial amount
of white visible on the sides behind the wing in
dorsal view.
