Obolites & PABers,

Let's get THE best birding database "North American Birds" Online at
Multnomah County Library. Easily done, here's how: fill in the "Suggest for
Purchase" form on the library's website, it's right here
https://multcolib.org/suggest-purchase

Unfamiliar with N. Amer. Birds? (from the preeminent types at Cornell Univ.)
you can get a free itty bitty taste of it's wealth here:
http://bna.birds.cornell.edu/bna

My broad stereotype of birders is that they are educated and savvy.
"Savvy-ness" implies recognizing value and opportunity. If you are currently
a card holder at Mult. County Library, you're good to go, right now, click
the above link(s). If you're a Portland AREA (yes, Clacksters,
Washingtonians, Clark County, Hood River, you too are eligible for a free
Mult. library card). BTW, you savvy folks, you are, right now, whether a
MCL cardholder or not, paying for the library district. This request is just
asking them to get something of very high value .....because you're Already
paying for the would be hosting institution.

So, fill out the Suggest a Purchase e-form now, TAKES ABOUT A MINUTE.
Factual point: the acquisition folks at the library (not me) Are
responsive-to-Very-responsive but they have to evaluate interest. Numbers,
folks, Numbers! Do it! ..please '-)

good birding and up with high value birding resources at your fingertips,
Tom
ps. Shout out to Stefan Schlick who proposed this idea. He said, correctly,
Seattle's library has it. OK, it even has it's element of cool-city rivalry
to it. It's a very worthy idea. I will be monitoring to see if MCL acquires
it.
