I’ve taken the liberty of cleaning up your recording, Ed, to eliminate much of
the noise (and the 10 seconds of nothing at the beginning). I also amplified
it a bit so I don’t have to turn my speakers almost to the max to hear the bird.

I thought I heard the triplet call note of a Western Tanager (attached below)
in my SW Portland garden this morning. Turns out it wasn't anything out of the
ordinary, just a call that I'd not heard before from this regular winter
visitor. (hint: it's not a starling.)
