Great finds! Whimbrel is a very good bird in Benton County, so I hope you don't mind that I repost your sighting to let the local birders know about it. Merry Migration! Across the road we saw about 6 Horned Larks in the dirt areas across from the east end of the scrape pond. To take it over the top, in the fading light as we drove west on Bruce Road, a Great-horned Owl crossed the road in front of us, then settled on a tall snag silhouetted against the sky where we got a good look at its "ear tufts" with the spotting scope. It's why we love birding! We checked for the Avocet on the Finley Road earlier but didn't see it, though we did see plenty of Greater Yellowlegs and 3 Whimbrels.
