At about 2:50 pm today I was walking towards the ocean bluff at the
end of my block (without bins or camera) and a Black-billed Magpie
flew from south to north at tree-top level about 30 yards from me. I
think most coastal sightings end up as one-day wonders, but thought
I'd share anyway. It was pretty exciting, I've always like magpies.
The area is called Pacific Shores and it is south of the South Beach
State Park.
